But don't be intimidated by following a few simple rules, you can safely enjoy your outdoor fire pit nearly anywhere in your backyard.

First, take a good look around when you position your fire pit. You should be several feet away from any flammable structure - your home, deck, overhangs, trees, etc. You should also keep your fire pit away from heat sensitive plants, and never place it near dry grass, bales of hay, open firewood, and other materials that could ignite.

You may want to position your fire pit table in an out-of-the-way place for late night intimate gatherings.
