After your first fire with your fire pit, the finish will etch into the steel and become part of the protective finish. You may choose to clean off the excess patina material on your fire pit by simply scrubbing it lightly with water and a soft nylon brush, then hosing off any excess and letting the fire pit dry. With subsequent uses, this finish will darken to a beautiful burgundy color.
