The side screens on the Pagoda Fireplace are removable. To clean the fireplace, remove one side screen, slide out the log rack, and scoop out the ash.

We use this product on our patio. It is simple to mount, reasonably priced, looks good and does the job. Note that the description indicates there is a fringed panel for easy access. It is not correct (a previous reviewer did indicate that). However, the side panels are easily removable to clean the unit or insert wood.

On the upside it is attractive and nice to look at. However it is not all that sturdy and the pieces did not fit together easily without having to bend it into place. It is also hard to clean since there is no hinged opening rather the whole unit collapses apart. On the whole it serves it's purpose but it belongs in the under $100. category. I don't expect it to last as long as I would hope.

Very lightweight and not sure will hold up in weather. Was under the impression this was a much heavier piece. Disappointed.

The top just sits on the sides which just sit on the base. There is nothing holding all 3 parts together. I am afraid if a log falls it mat knock the screening off. Also this is very light weight. I replaced my old 80 dollar pit because it was worn through. The 80 dollar pit, which was about 5 years old was much heavier and more solid. All the pieces were fastened together so it was 1 unit. This thing is basically 3 separate parts.
