A very nice propane firepit. Delivers a very attractive flame. But, it was difficult to assemble, even for a Mechanical Engineer. The instructions were never proofed and were obviously written by off-shore manufacturer. They were useless.

I am also disappointed that the screws rusted after 1 dewy night - no rain.

Also, I had to buy many propane canisters before I found one that actually worked. The instructions didn't give much guidance on this. Look for Worthington Fat Boys. Coleman Camp Propane did not screw in, the thin, tall tanks are too tall.

Oh, and be careful lighting this. You have to put match directly to firering. I suggest having light in place before turning on propane flow. NOTE: there is no LIGHT setting, just HIGH and LOW. To get to LOW (recommended for by ME for lighting) you have to turn knob through high. Keep face well back to avoid singed eyebrows (voice of experience).

Comments about Bond Mendocino LP Fire Pit:

I love that this is small enough to not take up too much room on my patio. I use this more for ambiance than I do heat, but that is only because it's been so warm outside. It puts off enough heat that I have had to move my chair further back from it. All in all, I would purchase again.

Comments about Bond Mendocino LP Fire Pit:

Wish I would have invested more money in a larger firepit. It looks good but puts out very little heat. One 1# propane tank seems to last less than 1 hour. Disappointed in its use for heat.

Comments about Bond Mendocino LP Fire Pit:

Not enough heat output for evenings below 55 degrees F. Nice on our cool Texas evenings for the most part. Coleman tanks work best but all very hard to get on properly has you have to hold it up hard, and screw on at the same time. The silver L bracket that was welded on that held the tank from spinning round and round once on tight, broke off after the 6th use.

Comments about Bond Mendocino LP Fire Pit:

I haven't had the chance to really use it much, but overall, I'm satisfied. [...] assembly was easy. I had one problem where a hole in the bowl was about 2" from where it should be, so I had to drill another one in the correct spot for the leg to mount to. Put it together and lit it, and I'm fairly satisfied. I was hoping the flame would be a little stronger, but it's acceptable. Overall, for the money, I'd recommend it to others. It's pretty much just what I had in mind for my back patio.

Very easy to put together but the holes for one of the legs did line up good so it is tilted. The door for the gas does not shut very well.

      Customer Q & A

Q1: How do you install the propane tank?

A: The correct way to install the tank is to open the door, and then take while holding the propane tank from the bottom and screw it into the regulator.

Q2: Where does the propane tank go?

A: This Fire Pit uses standard disposable liquid propane gas tanks. It was designed to allow the tank to be placed inside of the unit keeping it out of sight.

      Q3: Is the flame adjustable.

A: Yes, like most LP product, this fire pit has a knob that allows the user to adjust the amount of flame and heat.  From personal use, high is very high, usually I set at medium to medium high setting.

Q4: How long would a 1 lb tank last? Is there a high and low setting or just one setting for the flame?

A: 1 1/2 to 2 hours on high.  High is very high, I tested this unit at home and I ran it at 1/2 to 3/4 output. Which also means the flame settings are adjustable.
