An all-weather cover is the single best investment you can make in protecting a fire pit. Look for vinyl-backed canvas (not the cheap polyester that cracks in cold weather), reinforced seams, and a drawcord at the base that pulls tight around the rim. Loose-fit covers let wind blow rain into the pit; tight-fit covers stay put through gusts.
We stock fitted covers for every fire pit we carry — Ohio Flame, Prism Hardscapes, The Outdoor Plus, HPC. Buy the cover sized for your specific model number; one-size covers don't seal well at the rim.
Wood-burning fire pits need a spark screen for any installation under a tree, near a wood deck, or in a high-wind area. The screen contains popping embers and falling debris without dimming the flame. Snuffer caps are the off-position lid — flip on, smother the flame, walk inside without waiting for the coals to die out.
Spark screens are vendor-fitted (Ohio Flame screens fit Ohio Flame pits, etc.). Generic universal screens sit poorly and rust through faster.
Fire pokers, log lifters, and ash shovels in hand-forged steel from the same makers as the pits themselves. The poker is the one most clients underestimate — a 30" handle keeps your hand out of the heat better than the 18" budget version.
For gas pits, accessory upgrades include color-matched fire glass (decorative media), lava rock (functional + cheaper than glass), wind guards, and conversion kits between natural gas and propane.
