Rectangular fire tables (typically 56-72 inches) anchor outdoor sectionals — the long dimension matches the back of a 7-foot couch and gives every seat a clear view of the flame. Round fire pit tables (36-48 inches) work better for conversation-first layouts where everyone faces in. Square tables (36-42 inches) sit cleanly on smaller patios.
Height changes the social mode. Chat-height tables (16-21 inches) pair with lounge chairs and conversation sets — flame at knee level, drinks on the surround. Dining-height tables (28-30 inches) pair with bar-height chairs and turn the table into the dinner setup; the flame becomes the centerpiece while plates and platters sit safely on the surround.
Propane fire tables include a hidden tank compartment in the base and run off a standard 20 lb tank. They're portable, install in an hour, and the only ongoing cost is a refill every 8-12 hours of burn time. Natural gas fire tables connect to your home's gas line and never need refilling, but require a plumber to run the line — best decided at the time of patio construction.
Most of our fire tables ship convertible between fuel types via a kit; check the spec sheet on the product page or ask us before ordering.
Residential fire tables run 40,000-60,000 BTUs. That's enough to take the chill off a 12x12 patio in shoulder seasons but not enough to heat an open space in winter. If heat is the priority, look at our patio heater accessories or specify a higher-BTU table from Outdoor Plus' commercial line.
BTU rating doesn't tell the whole story — burner type matters. Linear stainless burners produce a wider, dancing flame; ring burners give a centered, taller flame. Match the look to the layout.
