A standard fire pit sits in the seating circle — its job is to hold the flame so people can gather around. A fire sculpture sits in the landscape — its job is to be the object you walk toward, with the flame as a feature of the form rather than the entire reason for existing.
Ohio Flame's Liberty, Patriot, and Artisan series are hand-cut from solid Corten steel plate in Ohio. They function as wood-burning fire pits when lit and as architectural sculpture when unlit — every angle a finished piece.
Cut-pattern sculptures (Liberty, Patriot) project light through the steel — the flame inside becomes a kaleidoscope on the surrounding hardscape after dark. Solid-form sculptures (Artisan) hold the flame inside an open top and rely on the silhouette for daytime presence.
Both styles weather to the same Corten patina over 6-12 weeks. Photographs in the catalog show the fully-aged finish; expect a brighter rust tone in the first months and a deeper warm-bronze settled tone after the first winter.
Fire sculptures are sited as garden objects, not as patio centerpieces — typically along a sight line from the back of the house, in a planted bed, or at the end of a gravel path. They need a fire-safe pad underneath (stone, pavers, gravel) but don't need to anchor a seating arrangement.
All sculptures ship with a snuffer cover. Add an optional cover for off-season storage if the piece sits in a high-leaf-fall location.
